Contrasted Successional Trajectories in a Mediterranean Wetland Due to Geomorphic- and Human-Induced Perturbations

چکیده
Wetland ecosystems in water-limited environments locally boost biotic interactions, habitat diversity, and species concentrations, but little knowledge exists on their long-term functioning susceptibility to regime shifts that might influence conservation reclamation actions. Here we used a historical ecology approach rare Mediterranean peat-bog reconstruct ecological successions for the last 4 millennia. The reconstruction is explore role of geomorphic thresholds, climate changes, anthropogenic perturbations as drivers ecosystem trajectory frame projected aridification climate. Our findings highlight how superimposition pastoral disturbances river incision, has exacerbated sensitivity changes. Considering trajectory, disappearance occur independently changes precipitation regime. Insights given by Historical Ecology have implications our understanding responses perturbations, demonstrating dynamics must be considered before engaging strict action.

Contrasted patterns of hyperdiversification in Mediterranean hotspots.
Dating the Tree of Life has now become central to relating patterns of biodiversity to key processes in Earth history such as plate tectonics and climate change. Regions with a Mediterranean climate have long been noted for their exceptional species richness and high endemism. How and when these biota assembled can only be answered with a good understanding of the sequence of divergence times f...
متن کاملEvaluation of geographic, geomorphic and human influences on Great Lakes wetland indicators: A multi-assemblage approach
Developing effective indicators of ecological condition requires calibration to determine the geographic range and ecosystem type appropriate for each indicator. Here, we demonstrate an approach for evaluating the relative influence of geography, geomorphology and human disturbance on patterns of variation in biotic indicators derived from multiple assemblages for ecosystems that span broad spa...
متن کاملClassification of Habitats in Bakhtegan wetland (Fars Province) in Mediterranean Wetland System
Understanding ecosystems and their zonation based on their characteristics and sensitivities is an essential step in protecting natural resources and the sustainability of their habitats. The Mediterranean Wetland Habitat Classification System (MEDWET) is used to identify Bakhtegan wetland, Fars Province, Iran, by hierarchical classification of their habitats, in which they are identified and d...

the frame semantic theory is a nascent approach in the area of translation studies which goes beyond the linguistic barriers and helps us to incorporate cognitive and cultural factors to the study of translation. based on rojos analytical model (2002b), which centered in the frames or knowledge structures activated in the text, the present research explores the various translation problems that...
15 صفحه اولFIRE AND SUCCESSIONAL TRAJECTORIES IN BOREAL FOREST: IMPLICATIONS FOR RESPONSE TO A CHANGING CLIMATE By
Because of the key role played by fire in structuring boreal forest ecosystems, interactions between vegetation and fire regime may be an important and dynamic control of forest response to climate change. This research uses a series of field observations and experiments in boreal forests to examine the nature of several potential fire and vegetation interactions, and how such interactions may ...
